Carbon Reduction Plan

Last updated: 28 January 2026

Commitment to Net Zero

Applied Behaviour Change is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 (or earlier where practicable). Our approach prioritises real-world reductions first, with carbon removals considered only for genuinely residual emissions after reduction opportunities have been exhausted.

Baseline and current emissions (Year to December 2025)

ABC’s 2025 baseline is our first formal organisational footprint. Because this is our first measured year, the baseline and current reporting year are the same. Emissions were estimated from travel activity data (miles/km by mode) using the UK Government greenhouse gas conversion factors for the reporting year. We will improve accuracy over time by strengthening data capture and reviewing whether any additional Scope 3 sources become material as the business grows.

Total emissions (2025): 0.384 tCO2e

Breakdown:

Scope 1: 0.000 tCO2e
No company-owned/controlled vehicles or on-site fuel use.

Scope 2: 0.000 tCO2e
ABC does not operate a dedicated office space with electricity purchased directly by the business.

Scope 3 (included sources): 1.9987 tCO2e
ABC’s Scope 3 emissions are currently dominated by work-related travel. This includes travel to regular work sites where required for delivery, and ad-hoc travel for meetings, workshops, and partnership working

Work and business travel: 1.9987 tCO2e

Carbon reduction targets

Because ABC’s footprint is currently dominated by business travel (which can be necessary for effective partnership working and high-quality delivery), our targets focus on reducing avoidable journeys and reducing emissions per trip, while maintaining service quality.

We aim to achieve:

  • 15% reduction by 2030 (relative to the 2025 baseline)

  • 30% reduction by 2035 (relative to the 2025 baseline)

  • 80–90% reduction by 2040 where feasible, with any residual emissions addressed through high-quality carbon removals only after reduction options are exhausted

  • Net Zero by 2050

We recognise that annual emissions may vary depending on contract requirements and the extent of in-person delivery needed.

Carbon reduction measures

Measures already in place

  • Remote-first delivery model for meetings, training, and project delivery, with in-person activity used when it adds clear value.

  • Digital-first working (paperless documentation, e-signatures, electronic invoicing).

  • Travel planning practices that reduce unnecessary journeys and encourage efficient scheduling.

Measures we will implement and maintain

  • Low-carbon travel policy: virtual-by-default; rail-first for UK travel where feasible; flights only where there is a clear need and no reasonable alternative.

  • Improved data capture: consistent internal logging of business travel (mode, distance, purpose) to support more accurate reporting and targeted reductions.

  • Supplier considerations: where relevant, preference suppliers and services with strong sustainability credentials (including hosting where applicable).

Governance and accountability

Carbon reduction is owned at a director level. We review progress at least annually and update this page (and our Carbon Reduction Plan) to reflect:

  • updated emissions calculations,

  • changes in the organisation’s activities, and

  • progress against reduction actions and targets.
